Xiaomi's next flagship is starting to take shape — and on paper, it looks like a meaningful step up.

Fresh leaks emerging from China have shed light on the Xiaomi 18's display and battery specifications ahead of what is widely expected to be a September 2026 launch.

A Slightly Larger, Sharper Screen

The Xiaomi 18 is tipped to feature a 6.4-inch flat display — a modest but deliberate increase over the Xiaomi 17's 6.3-inch panel.

The aspect ratio stays at 19.5:9, maintaining the tall, comfortable-in-hand form factor that Xiaomi fans are used to. What changes is the resolution: the new panel is expected to jump to 2K, an upgrade over the standard resolution found on the Xiaomi 17.

Leak sources also point to ultra-narrow bezels and large rounded corners — cosmetic refinements that should give the device a noticeably more premium feel in hand.

The Battery Is the Real Story

If the display upgrade is evolutionary, the battery is something else entirely.

The Xiaomi 18's battery capacity is reported to start with the number 7 — with at least one source on Weibo speculating the exact figure lands at 7,800 mAh. Even if the final number comes in at the lower end of that range — say, 7,000 mAh — it would still represent a 10.6 per cent jump over the Xiaomi 17's already-respectable 6,330 mAh cell.

For a flagship smartphone, that is a substantial leap. Battery anxiety is increasingly a dealbreaker for premium buyers, and Xiaomi appears to be targeting that concern head-on.

What About the Cameras?

The latest leak stays quiet on the standard Xiaomi 18's camera configuration — but prior rumours suggested it would retain a 50MP main camera while gaining a 200MP telephoto lens.

What is confirmed for the Xiaomi 18 Pro and Xiaomi 18 Pro Max, however, is more striking: both the main and telephoto cameras on those variants are expected to hit 200MP each — a dual 200MP setup that would be among the most aggressive camera specifications on any Android flagship to date.

The Bigger Picture

Xiaomi has been quietly closing the gap with Samsung and Apple on flagship hardware. A 2K flat display, a near-8,000 mAh battery, and a potential 200MP telephoto in the same device would make the Xiaomi 18 one of the most spec-complete phones of 2026 — particularly at the price points Xiaomi typically targets.
